Maternity Leave
It’s an exciting time for Marlis Funk Photography – I’m off on maternity leave this month as we await the arrival of our newest family member! While I focus on family for the remainder of 2015, I will be answering emails, booking sessions for 2016 and catching up on blogging.
We had the pleasure of documenting this exciting time by being photographed by Winnipeg photographer Gabrielle of Gabrielle Touchette Photography. I feel that it is important to create art out of these life changes and I love working with other photographers whose work I find inspiring.
I have to admit, I get a little anxious on the other side of the camera, even though I know the session will be fun and that it’s important to be photographed. I quickly relaxed into our maternity photo session – Gabrielle mixed her professionalism with an easy-going attitude and a willingness to climb into a burr-filled bush to get the shot 🙂
You can see our session on Gabrielle’s blog HERE and below are a few of my favourites!
(This baby is a dancer and loves to remind me of its presence!)
While the important life moments are important to capture, I feel that it’s important to create art of the “in-between” moments too! I try to remember what it feels like to be “the client” on the other side of the camera. Each year, I work with a professional photographer and create new images. Here’s a few of my favs from past sessions:
2014 – a new character portrait with Tegan McMartin Photography:
2013 – wedding portraits with Red Photo Co.:
2013 – portraits with Sarb Glaze Photography:
2012 – character portraits with Erin Weiss:
I’m looking forward to my next photo session – newborn photos with Gabrielle Touchette Photography! As soon as this little baby arrives… (any day now…)
I look forward to seeing you in 2016 (from my side of the camera!). There’s sure to be a lot of exciting adventures and newimages to create. Feel free to connect with me –>
Cheers, Marlis
