Day Ten: Ukrainian + Mexican = Mariachi at the Wedding! | Christmastide – 12 days of blogging
Hello and welcome to Day 10!
We’re nearing the end of the 12 days of blogging that coincides with Christmastide (the twelve days of Christmas.
Today we’re going back a little farther than a year… to May of 2011, and the wedding of Adela and Keenan. This wedding was not only a joining of families, it was a joining of two cultures – Mexican and Ukrainian. The ceremony took place at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Cathedral in Vancouver, and the reception was help at the University Golf Club, where Mariachi Del Sol performed.
There were lots of interesting parts of the ceremony.
When the doors were opened, it was HAILING!!! This wasn’t the weather we started out with before the ceremony.
It set us back a few minutes, but once it let up enough to get to our cars, we drove from Main Street to Point Grey and then UBC. The weather got brighter as we went.
Then the rainbows appeared…
…followed by more rain!
Mariachi Del Sol preformed at the reception – so fun!
Mexican Mariachi and Ukrainian Korovai! Love from two cultures.
