5th Vancouver Timeraiser! | Vancouver Event Photography
This event is pretty special. It’s called Timeraiser and it’s in its 5th year in Vancouver. Instead of bidding money for art that is donated, you bid volunteer hours (pledged) for art where the artist is paid for their work.
Whaaaat?!
I know. Sounds a bit confusing. So let me show you how things happened last Thursday…
First, you register with the happy people at the front.
Then you stop for a drink at the bar and get a snack, provided by Potluck Catering.
Then you check out the many awesome agencies looking for volunteers, such as PeaceGeeks.
Then you hang out with some old friends or pretty awesome people you just met.
Then the emcee tells you about what else is going on, and some art winners from the year before receive their art.
(ooooo… look at all those portraits by Imaging by Marlis on the screen in the background!)
This piece is by photographer Lisa Graham.
Then the bidding starts! You bid with a pledge of volunteer hours, to be completed within the year.
Yay for AUCTIONS!!!
Questions? Ask a very helpful and friendly volunteer!
See? An exciting and fun evening for a good cause – connecting organizations with volunteers, and volunteers with amazing local art.
